Baby Mason is on the Way!
We are over the moon with excitement to announce that baby Mason will arrive in July 2019! Ever since I was a little girl I have dreamt about becoming a mom and having a family of my own. Even now as I sit here and write this, it just seems too good to be true! Brent and I knew we wanted to start a family as soon as we got married, as we both love children, so it is something we have prayed for every single day. We feel so blessed to start this journey into parenthood together.

Our Journey with Infertility
Unfortunately, our journey to becoming parents hasn’t been the easiest. As so many people do, we struggled with the cruel beast of infertility. I do plan on sharing our fertility struggle in more detail in the future, but I want today’s post to focus on the happiness and joy of our precious child on the way! Yet, I will share the very basic details of our little miracle.
We started trying to conceive as soon as we were married. We couldn’t wait to start a family of our own and due to some health issues that I had experienced we knew that it might take longer than usual. We spent a year and a half full of constant prayers, endless tears, and many heartbreaks. In that time I had ovarian surgery to remove cysts and search for other underlying causes of infertility. We also did two rounds of fertility medications and one round of IUI (intrauterine insemination), all of which were unsuccessful. We went to multiple specialists and in the end we were told at this point in time IVF was our best bet and the sooner we started the better. Therefore, we were a mere 4 days away from starting IVF medications when we found out we were pregnant with our precious baby! What is even crazier is that due to the upcoming IVF medications, we had taken the month off of all medications, treatments, etc., so it certainly happened when we were least expecting it, a true miracle!

Finding Out We Were Pregnant
Again, since we hadn’t done any fertility medications the month I became pregnant, we really never imagined it would happen. I had gotten x-rays, dental fillings, and everything you can imagine done that month because we were planning on starting IVF the following month. The first person I actually told I was pregnant was my dentist because I immediately called him to talk about the fillings I had the week before!
Anyway, I’ve digressed…at the end of each cycle I was in the habit of taking a pregnancy test. Even when there weren’t any signs, it had just become a monthly routine. Well, I took a test on a Sunday and it seemed to have a faint pink line, but if you’ve gone through infertility you’ve probably seen that line yourself and later realized it didn’t mean what you had hoped (CRUEL). So, I honestly didn’t think too much of it. I didn’t even mention it to Brent. On Monday morning I took another test and again saw a faint pink line. This time, as soon as Brent woke up at 6AM I told him that he needed to go to Walmart, buy another pregnancy test and take it himself! Of course, he thought I was crazy and was very confused, but I needed something to compare it to! So, he did it, my husband took a pregnancy test. Sure enough, his test had no inkling of a pink line. Yet, we still weren’t convinced.
So, I called the doctor that morning and she ordered blood work. Focusing at work all day was not an easy task and by the time 3:30PM rolled around I couldn’t wait any longer, so I called their office and left a message asking for the results. Around 4:00PM, on October 29th, they called back and said “Everything looks great!”…I wasn’t sure what that meant, so my response was “Wait, I’m pregnant?” And sure enough, I was!
Brent was off work that day, so he was home when I got home. I was honestly in shock, so I just walked in and said “Well, I’m pregnant!” Brent’s response included some words that aren’t exactly appropriate to share, but needless to say we were both beyond excited and in disbelief!
