Weekly Catch Up
The first week of December was full of holiday cheer in the Mason household! One of the highlights of the week was our hometown’s Christmas parade! This year we had a “reverse” Christmas parade. The spectators stayed in their vehicles and drove by floats and holiday characters stationed on the streets. Millie had a wonderful time dancing in the car and waving at all of the people. It was so nice to get out and do something different for a change!
Camila gets very excited every morning to turn on our Christmas tree lights, move our Christmas countdown wreath, find her Elf on the Shelf, and choose an activity from the Advent calendar. Another highlight of the week came from one of Millie’s Advent calendar “gifts”. Millie got to watch her first movie/tv show ever, “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas”. Camila is a big fan of Mickey and Minnie from the books we read and she was shocked to see them on TV. It was like a celebrity had just walked into our home! The look on her face and squeals she let out were pure joy and just so much fun to witness!
What we’re Watching, Cooking & Baking
Watching: Last week I started watching Season 2 of Virgin River on Netflix. Nowadays there are very few shows that I get so excited about that I make time to watch them as soon as they come out. This is one of them! I’m halfway through Season 2 and I’m enjoying it just as much as Season 1. This is one chick flick series that I would highly recommend!
Cooking: Another winter week calls for more soup! Last week we made my absolute favorite soup, creamy sweet potato gnocchi and chicken. If you’ve ever had Olive Garden’s chicken and gnocchi soup, this is similar, but SO much better! I’m working with Brent to get his recipe up here on the blog. But, this is no easy task because he’s one of those people who doesn’t do a lot of measuring with his cooking. The good news is I’m hoping to have the recipe for Brent’s homemade sweet potato gnocchi noodles up this week!
Baking: Last weekend I baked something that I am very excited about…my grandma’s red velvet cookie recipe! These are one of my favorite cookies, but I haven’t been able to eat them for a year and a half due to Millie’s dairy intolerance and now my own intolerance. After a lot of practice with dairy-free baking, I finally felt ready to take these on and they turned out wonderfully! I’m planning on sharing the recipe next week, so stay tuned!
Weekly Shopping Finds
The Beaufort Bonnet Company Spring Arrivals: If you’re anything like me, you’re always shopping for the upcoming season when it comes to children’s clothing. This classic children’s clothing spring 2021 collection has only been partially released and it is already so good! Last week I shared many of my favorite spring styles for girls, including some that I purchased as Millie’s Christmas gifts.
Bitty Baby Matching Outfits: Millie has really started getting into her baby dolls, so I thought it would be fun to buy a cute outfit or two along with some baby accessories as Christmas gifts. I was shocked at how difficult it was to find cute outfits for the American Girl Bitty Babies. After some hardcore searching, I found the most adorable dresses for Bitty Babies that also have matching bubbles and dresses for toddlers!
Vineyard Vines 30% Off: I finally started my Christmas shopping last week and I came across so many great items at Vineyard Vines for 30% off! They have everything on sale – sherpas, sweaters, dresses, even skirts and other spring items. Of course, I had to buy a few things for myself including this navy striped turtleneck to layer under pullovers and this beautiful red dress with bows on the shoulders. Make sure to check out all of my Vineyard Vines sale favorites!
