DIY Playhouse Makeover
Growing up, one of my favorite things to play in was our Little Tikes Playhouse. I would spend hours playing pretend, it was so fun and magical! It didn’t take me long after Millie was born to start saving all of the beautiful playhouse designs and planning for the day she would be old enough to have a playhouse of her own. Luckily, Brent is wonderful at painting, putting things together, and most importantly, a great daddy who agreed to spend many hours working on the perfect playhouse for Millie!

How to do a Playhouse Makeover
If you’re a visual learner, I shared a lot of video footage of the playhouse makeover on my Instagram highlights titled “Playhouse“. Here are the basic step-by-step instructions on a DIY playhouse makeover:
- Organize all of the parts and set out tools you will need (screwdriver, drill, hammer, paint, paintbrush, paint tape, spray paint.)
- Build the bottom of the playhouse. Apply a coat of primer. Apply 2-3 coats of paint.
- Build the top of the playhouse and attach it to the bottom. I know some people will paint this before attaching, but Brent attached it first because we chose not to paint the shingle section of the roof, just the siding sections. Repeat primer and 2-3 coats of paint.
- Prepare and paint/spray paint any of the accessories you’re painting (the door, windows, doorbell, flag, etc.) Once everything is dry, attach these accessories.
- Prepare the area you’re going to place the house. We chose to purchase these cement squares to create a nice surface for the playhouse to sit upon. Then, we placed this artificial grass on top of the cement to give a more comfortable and safe “floor” for Millie.
- Move the playhouse and enjoy! This was the only part I helped with and I will say, these playhouses are not light!
