Camila turned 4 months old this past Monday. We’ve had a wonderful month full of special events including her baptism and her first trip to the pumpkin patch! I think she’s going to love fall as much as her mama does!

4 Month Old Baby Stats
At the doctor’s office this week Camila checked in at 11lbs, 9oz and 22 inches long. She is a growing girl! She’s still in size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothing. Luckily, we had some warm days to kick off fall and she was able to squeeze into most of her 0-3 month “summer” clothes at least once!

Camila Anne’s Favorite Things
Our Mila Girl has certainly found her voice and has been full of chats and laughter this past month! She loves talking all day long to anyone and everyone, even herself if she’s left alone in a room. And we have finally gotten the long awaited baby giggles out of her! She loves when people sing and play with her hands. She also gives lots of giggles when daddy rubs his beard on her face (although this leaves her soft baby skin pretty irritated!)
Camila still loves baths and books and she is just beginning to take an interest in toys. She has this non-toxic teething toy that she has started to explore and seems to enjoy, along with sucking on her hands and fingers. Mila absolutely loves the Baby Bjorn Bouncer Chair. She will sit in there and chat with me all day while I cook, clean, etc. We ordered the Baby Bjorn Toy Bar to attach to the chair as her Halloween gift and I’m excited to see her interact with it! Mila is a tummy time champ and will lounge around on her play mat pushed up on her arms for long periods of time just glancing around and chatting.

Baby with Reflux and Dairy and Soy Allergy
I have been completely dairy and soy free for 2 1/2 months and thankfully it seems to have really helped with Mila’s stomach pains and stool issues. It is so wonderful to see a much happier and less fussy baby!
Unfortunately, the struggle with reflux continues. We made the decision not to put Mila on medications for reflux (as of right now), so we are hoping she will grow out of this soon. The biggest problem continues to be getting her to sleep well through the reflux. We hold her upright for 30 minutes post-feed and elevate the crib (per pediatrician and GI specialist suggestions), but no matter what we do it seems that unless she’s being held upright on someone’s chest she can’t sleep longer than 30-40 minutes without waking to burp or spit up.

Baby Sleeping Problems with Reflux
That leads me to the topic we are looking for advice on. How do you get a baby with reflux to sleep on her own? We have tried everything including swaddles (we have purchased SO many different types), a sound machine (we love the Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine), and elevating the crib. We are currently using Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit and I will say this does seem to be the best option so far. She likes it better than any swaddle, it helps with the startle reflex, and she looks adorable in it (added perk!)
We are considering some type of sleep training or cry it out method. My biggest concern with this is when she awakes crying 90% of the time it’s because she needs to be picked up in order to burp or spit up. I know that picking the baby up is typically not part of sleep training, so I’m not sure how that would work. If you have any experience in sleep training, have an online course or book to suggest, or advice on helping babies with reflux sleep please comment below or send me a message on Instagram. I would appreciate it so much!

4 Month Old Baby Schedule
On most days Camila wakes up somewhere between 6:15-7:00AM. She eats every 3 hours, which thankfully now only takes around 15-20 min. Most of the time she wakes, eats, plays, sleeps, repeat. We will usually play for an hour or so after eating, which is so much fun! She typically takes three naps a day. For two of them I have been putting her in the crib, so those only last 30-40 minutes. I try to either hold her or use our Solly Baby Wrap or Ergobaby Omni 360 Carrier for the other nap, so she can sleep an hour and half or two hours during at least one nap.

Looking Forward To…
Halloween! We are so excited to celebrate Mila’s first Halloween next week! Originally I ordered this adorable baby bunny costume, but unfortunately it was too small. Instead, Mila will be a cute little cow for her first Halloween!
Camila’s First Wedding! My cousin is getting married this weekend, so Mila will get to experience her first wedding! We’re excited to get dressed up and have a fun night of family, dancing, and celebration.
Friends & Family Events! Over the next month we have birthdays, wedding showers, and baptisms to attend. It’s so fun experiencing all of these celebrations with our girl!
Thanks for following along with Camila’s journey! Again, if you have any suggestions for helping a baby with reflux to sleep on her own we would LOVE to hear them. This continues to be our biggest struggle and mama and daddy need some sleep!
