Well, this past month has been an interesting one, or maybe uninteresting, due to COVID-19. I left the house twice. Once to pick up groceries from my cousin’s porch and another time to do a “car visit” to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday. Nonetheless, it seems our days at home are as busy as ever! Millie keeps us occupied with nursing, playing, eating, cleaning, etc. and we have also been going on walks every day if the weather allows. We celebrated our third wedding anniversary and had our first Easter as a family of three. We ate delicious home cooked meals and had 6ft apart outdoor visits from Camila’s grandparents!

10 Month Old Baby Stats
We used our Hatch Grow Smart Changing Pad & Scale again this month to weigh Camila. According to this scale she weighs 17lbs and 6.5oz. When I saw this number I had to move the scale and zero it out again because I couldn’t believe it. This puts her in the 28th percentile, which is very exciting as she has never even been in a double digit percentile before!

Baby-Led Weaning at 10 Months Old
As her weight gain suggests, Mila loves eating and gets so excited anytime she sees food or her high chair! Fruits are her absolute favorite and we have learned that we have to save those until the end of a meal, otherwise she will just yell at us until we continue filling up her plate with fruit. She also loves the baby pancakes we make and will eat anything if it’s covered in guacamole! Here is a list of the new foods she tried this month. We have also started introducing dairy. This slows down new food introduction because it takes a full week of not eating any other new foods to be sure she isn’t reacting to the dairy. If you’d like to see the full list of foods 1-38 check out my 8 month old and 9 month old baby blog posts and follow along on my BLW Instagram stories for recipes and pictures!

Introducing the Dairy Ladder to Baby
This past month we started introducing dairy to Camila via the milk ladder. If you’ve been following along then you might remember that at 7 weeks old we learned that Mila had CMPI (cow’s milk protein intolerance) via my breastmilk. At that point I immediately cut out all forms of dairy from my diet-no cheese, milk, butter, whey, etc. Once Mila was 9 months old it was time for us to attempt step 1 of the dairy ladder. This basically starts with the lowest amount of milk protein ingestion and works up to higher amounts. The dairy is given directly to Mila and I have to stay 1 step behind her on the ladder for my breastmilk to be safe.
A few weeks ago we made the milk muffins as step 1, which included 1 cup of milk divided between 10 muffins. We used the baby milk muffin recipe, but I used whole wheat flour, left out the sugar, subbed avocado oil, and added bananas. She ate the muffins for 3 days and then took 3 days off, as that is the amount of time needed to watch for a dairy intolerance. She seemed to do fairly well. There were a few questionable diapers, but as babies are often unpredictable we didn’t feel like there were any definite signs of intolerance or stomach upset, so we moved on to step 2 last week. For this step we made the baby milk pancake recipe, but used whole wheat flour, left out the salt, subbed avocado oil, and added bananas. She absolutely loved these pancakes! Today marks our last day to watch for symptoms on this step and so far we haven’t noticed any signs of an intolerance at all!

10 Month Old Baby Milestones and Favorite Things
Camila’s bottom 2 teeth are now fully visible and she is growing and changing every day! Lately her favorite word has been “dada” and she is very good at communicating her emotions, whether it be smiling and bouncing with happiness or yelling and pushing something away when she’s unhappy. She loves bouncing, dancing, and clapping to music and it’s the cutest thing ever (I’m not biased at all!) She enjoys going on daily walks where she can observe every little thing and noise. She is crawling and scooting in every direction other than forward, but she still hates to roll over. She’s getting good at standing while holding on to something and we like to practice standing while reading. Camila’s first Easter basket included these spring hair bows, this beautiful children’s placemat, this bath book, and these temperature sensitive bath ducks. Her level of excitement for bath time has reach a whole new high with these toys! Beyond bath time her her current favorite toys are these non-toxic wooden baby sensory tumbling toys. We’ve been practicing the Montessori toy rotation and up until this month she hasn’t been super interested in these pastel wooden toys, but now she’s obsessed! She loves banging them together, exploring their sensory details, and watching them roll away and attempting to crawl after them.

Looking Forward To…
My Cousin’s Gender Reveal Party! We will be attending a Zoom party to find out the gender of my cousin’s baby. I’m so excited for Millie to have another friend to play with!
Camila’s Cousin’s Birthday! I’m not sure what the plan is for the event, but I’m hoping we can do some type of celebrating whether it is with a “car visit”, FaceTime, or Zoom.
Mother’s Day! I can’t wait to celebrate my first Mother’s Day as a mom! I’m looking forward to a relaxing day at home with my baby girl and Brent and maybe some porch visits from family.
Nice Weather & Walks! We have been trying to get outside for walks every day that the weather allows. Sometimes my mom, grandma, and mother-in-law will join us and walk on the opposite side of the road. This is something we look forward to every day!
FaceTime With Friends & Family! At least once a week I try to schedule a FaceTime with friends or family. It’s always great to see everyone’s faces!
Thanks for reading! It’s hard to believe there will only be 2 more updates until Camila is 1!
