Well, in the blink of an eye my baby girl is ONE! In a strange way this has been the quickest and longest year of my life all at the same time. The past month with Camila was even more fun than all of the rest! We were able to have lunch outside multiple times with family and friends, have some play dates, eat dinner outside at restaurants a few times, and of course celebrate Camila’s first birthday and Brent’s first Father’s Day!

1 Year Old Baby Stats
According to our Hatch Grow Smart Changing Pad & Scale Mila now weighs around 19 1/2 pounds and according to our measurements she is around 27.5 inches long. Of course, both of these stats are pretty rough measurements since we’ve done them here at home. We go back to the doctor’s office for her 12 month appointment next week (the first one in 6 months!) so we will see how accurate they are.

Baby-Led Weaning at 12 Months Old
We continue to try out new foods towards meeting our goal of serving Camila 100 new foods before the age of 18 months. We are up to food #83 so we are getting very close! We didn’t introduce as many new foods this month simply because I was so distracted with birthday planning and other things, but we’re ready to get back at it now! To see the full list of foods 1-70 check out the 8 month, 9 month, 10 month, and 11 month blog updates or follow along with my BLW story highlights on Instagram.

12 Month Old Baby Milestones and Favorite Things
The amount of development we’ve seen in Camila this past month is so crazy and so fun! It’s clear she knows what many words mean, such as “drink”, “home”, “book”, “eat”, etc. even though she’s unable to say them quite yet. She is a very active little girl and there is no stopping her from crawling all over the place in seconds. I now understand what moms mean when they say they stay in shape by chasing around their children all day long! She loves walking all around the house using her stroller walker (which I would highly recommend, it’s adorable and useful!) and pulls herself up on everything. She also currently loves opening and closing doors to play “peek-a-boo”, opening any drawer and cabinet she can get her hands on, and flipping light switches on and off.
We have tried to keep Camila’s toys minimal and basic from the start and she got some wonderful new ones for her birthday that she is already enjoying. She received the latest Loverly Play Kit and we have been working on the activities daily. She also was gifted this wooden xylophone and this wooden hammer and pound bench and they have been keeping her entertained. Another one of her new favorites is this fine motor skills and sensory exploration toy, the “Dimpl”, which is so easy to take on the go! But, I think her favorite birthday gift was this Unicorn 3-in-1 Ride On Scooter. Her daddy has been scooting her all over the house on it and she rides with the biggest smile on her face!

Baby Girl’s First Birthday Party
I spent months planning every little detail of Camila’s first birthday and as luck would have it, things didn’t go quite as planned. COVID hit, resulting in a drive-by outdoor party, our dishwasher broke at the beginning of the week and still isn’t fix, which adds on a lot of time when cooking and baking for a party (and just in general!) and then the day of the party it was dark and pouring rain almost the entire day. Therefore, all of the decor that I planned for had the not-so-beautiful backdrop of inside of our garage. Not exactly what I had envisioned (a beautiful day outside with a lemonade stand, balloon arch, etc.), but we worked with what we had! Most importantly, our family and friends were able to stop by the garage and celebrate and Camila had the most wonderful weekend, which is truly all that matters!
The theme of the party was pink gingham, lemons, and mint green. I’ll link as many items as possible at the end of this post, but there are some items I’m unable to link. Camila wore this mint green baby bubble with this pink hair bow. We decorated with this classic pink birthday high chair banner. For party favors I stuffed small white bags with sidewalk chalk, lemonade kiddie tattoos, lemon themed sugar cookies, and a lemon hair tie (all linked below) and I designed stickers for the bags on Canva. The Copy Shop in Bloomington, IL printed off the stickers and also the Milestone Birthday Sign (linked below) and as usual they did a wonderful job. Baked Blessings by Lisa in Morton, IL made the most precious gingham and lemon sugar cookies and also made Camila’s beautiful smash cake. I think everything else is linked below, but if I missed anything reach out and I’d be happy to share!

Looking Forward To…
Enjoying Summertime! Between COVID-19, party planning, house cleaning, and just everyday life I feel like the past month has been super busy. I’m excited to slow down a bit this month and enjoy time at the pool, relaxing, etc.
A Vacation Week for Brent! Due to COVID we have decided not to go on a vacation this summer, which is a real bummer. But, Brent is still taking a week off in July and we’re hoping to visit a zoo, spend some time at the pool, and relax, so I’m really looking forward to that!
4th of July! No set plans, but I always look forward to any reason to celebrate!
Birthday Parties & Baby Showers! We have multiple family and friend birthdays coming up in July (including my own) along with a baby shower! I can’t wait to spend more time with everyone!
Well, that wraps up 1 whole year with Camila! I plan on spacing out her blog posts more in the future, so the next update will probably be around 18 months. I’m sure she will be a whole new person by then (they change so quickly!) I’m looking forward to having some extra time to blog about many other things, so stay tuned!
