Baby Mason’s Gender: Our Little Secret
Before spilling the big news, let me share a little secret. Brent and I have known Baby Mason’s gender since week 11, the week before Christmas! We had appointments with our fertility specialist the first few weeks of pregnancy to make sure everything was progressing as it should. He recommends that all of his fertility patients do genetic testing at 9-10 weeks on chromosomes 13, 18, 21, x, and y. Of course this test is optional, but Brent and I decided together that we wanted to do the test.
At our 11 week doctor’s appointment the results were in! The doctor handed us the gender results in an envelope in case we wanted to open it privately or wait and do it at a gender reveal party. I thought we could wait until after the appointment and open it together in private, but Brent couldn’t wait! So, we opened the envelope right there in the doctor’s office!

Baby Mason is a…
GIRL!!! Let me just say, we were completely shocked! We have 7 nieces and 0 nephews and I’ve heard over and over again in the past few years “You are going to be the one in your family to have all of the boys!” Eventually we just started to believe it would be true and we would have only boys. We even called this baby “Jimmy” for the first 10 weeks of pregnancy (Brent’s favorite name). So, when we found out it was a girl we were honestly shocked, but of course extremely happy to be having a baby girl!

Baby Mason’s 2019 Gender Reveal Party
We knew from the start we wanted to have a gender reveal party with our family and friends. We want to celebrate every milestone with this little miracle! We decided to have cake pops made with pink cake inside for each of our party guests to bite into and find out the gender at the same time. Baked Blessings by Lisa made our gender reveal cake pops and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out, so beautiful and delicious!

We thought it would be fun to take a photo of everyone who thought the baby would be a boy and vice versa before biting into the cake pops. Clearly, “team boy” outnumbered “team girl” by a landslide! So, as you can imagine they were all pretty shocked to find out we are having a girl! They were all equally as shocked to discover that we’ve known the gender since a week before Christmas. It wasn’t an easy secret to keep, but we knew if we told anyone they would constantly be observing us to see if we gave away any hints.

Classic Gender Reveal Party 2019
I didn’t want to do the typical pink and blue theme for the gender reveal party. Sure, I had the pink and blue cake pops and a few other pink and blue details, but overall I wanted to keep it a pretty gender neutral color scheme.
I found these adorable elephant themed gender reveal party invitations and fell in love! Then, I found out they had a matching gender reveal old wives tales sign and I was sold! Both items were an instant download, so I took them to my favorite local print shop in Bloomington, IL, The Copy Shop, to have them printed. (I HIGHLY recommend The Copy Shop. They did all of the printing for my wedding and are wonderful to work with!) I placed the sign in this 16×20 gold frame as a finishing touch.

I wasn’t planning on purchasing any special plates or decorations for the party, but I randomly came across these Safari Themed Baby Plates and couldn’t resist! They were so cute and happened to match our invitations and gender reveal sign.

Lastly, I purchased these giant pink confetti balloons. Again, this wasn’t originally planned, but I saw them on one of my favorite blogger’s Instagram (Morgan Bullard-check her out!) and I knew I had to have them for the party! Special thanks to my hubby who went out and got them blown up during a snow storm because he knew how much I wanted them for the party 😉
So, there you have it, we will be welcoming a baby girl in July! Of course, I have already started buying outfits for our little babe! Are you as surprised as we were that Baby Mason is a girl? Do you have any other awesome ways to host a gender reveal party? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
